Plastics for my 96 600

Hi, I am New To This Forum-But Far From New To Motorcycles=)
I Have a '96 Husa 600. My Plastics Are Fine, The Bike Is Great, Nothing Wrong With Her Anywhere. Not Even A Hole In My Seat! Anyways My Question Is Can I Adapt 2000 Style Plastics On My Ride? I Am Looking To Update The Look Of My Ride A Bit. As You All Probably Know Parts Are Not All That Easy To Come By These Days If You Own A Pre-'00 Husaberg. I Have Done Some Research Online And All Sources Have Led Me Here! = ) So Lets Give It A Go Shall We=)
 
Has Anyone Done This?... I Mostly Just Want To Update My Huge Ace Rear Fender, Number Plates, And Maybe The Seat?.. Tank Is Kinda Made For The Machine. ITS HUGE!! LOL The Front Is Fine=) It's That Ridiculously Large Rear Fender That Really Bothers Me! The Newer Rear Number Plates Are Sexy Though=)
 
I once owned a '96 FE 501 and could not stand the looks of the rear fender either, but to use the rear fender from '97-'99 models had to install the later sub-frame (I went with an after-market aluminum one) as the '96 sub-frame is too wide for the later fenders. Also, I had to buy a later seat as the '96 and earlier ones are a couple of inches shorter. The frames on the '00-'08 bikes are completely different the the '99 and earlier and do not have bolt-on sub-frames so there is no way to adapt the plastic to your bike. UFO used to make plastic for the '97-'98 'Bergs (it was a neon yellow-green that does not match the frame paint on your bike) but I'm not sure if it is still available. The '99 plastic is much closer to the color of your bike and would look better than the '97-'98 plastic but you still need a seat and sub-frame to use it.

Thanks Alot. That Should Help Quite A Bit. At least I'm Headed In The Right Direction Now. Im Going To Look Into That Route. Also Thanks For The Link, I Will Check Into That.
 
So Do The New Style Number Plates Mate Up With The '99 Rear Fender As Well? Correct Me If I'm Wrong; '99 Sub-Frame, '99 Rear Fender And '99 Number Plates And Im Good To Go?.... Does The '99 Sub-Frame Mount Directly To The '96 600? (I Have The MX 600, Didn't Come W/Lights) Ohh And A '99 Seat As Well?....
 
The side number plates for for the '97-'99 will interchange with the stock '96. The '00-'08 side number plates are integrated with the rear fender and will not work on your sub-frame or the '97-'99 subframe. The '97-'99 subframes will bolt right up to your frame. The only difference between the FC and FE subframes were the mounting tabs on the sides for the tail light assembly. The '97-'99 FCs used only 1 air filter as opposed to the 2 on the FE and FX models but that didn't affect the sub-frame.

What you need is:
'97-'99 sub-frame, seat, and rear fender. Your side number plates will work but the color is different. If I can figure out how to post pictures I'll post some of my '96 with the later sub-frame, seat, and fender.

Here are a couple of pictures of my '96 FE501 with the aluminum sub-frame and '98 rear fender and seat. As you can see, the yellow does not match but the look is much cleaner than the '96 fender. Thanks "RDP501" 501, Thats Funny. My Name Is "Levi" !! LOL Anyways, Were Your Stock Rears 1piece? Fender/Side Plates?... The "After" Is Way Cleaner! I'm Really Interested In Doing This To My '96 600. Minus The Tail Lights! Ha Ha Although I Do Think I Want To Convert To A H-Lamp In The Future As Well. The Newer Plate/H-Lamp Setups Are Looking Really Nice These Days. Specially The New/New Berg Light!
Now To Try And Find Me A Sub Frame And Seat. That Be A Good Start=)
 
Someone here did fit 2000 + rear plastics to a pre 2000 bike. I'm pretty sure there are some pics in the gallery, but dunno whose. I purchased some with a plan to do up my 501 sometime, but not yet got around to it. I don't think its too hard, just a little shed time.
