What clearances are people running. Looking at a new piston but is only .5544mm or .02187" clearance what your thoughts too tight?

Piston skirt to barrel gap:

OEM Husaberg Piston / Cylinder clearance is .002" - .0025" (Lineaweaver).

per the doc spec......

I would probably check with the piston manufacturer for there recomendation, depending on its make-up (forged-cast ect) can change the piston-bore clearance..... usually will range between .002-.004"

my current high comp piston is right close at .003ish" after skirt coating which didnt really change it at all, doesnt smoke or knock when cold.....

OEM clearance (6/100 mm) works OK, even at as low running coolant temperatures as 60degC. Up to 8/100 mm will also work.

0.53mm=0.0208661" seems way out of range to me, 0.053mm=0.002086614" would be ok it think,
its too early morning for metric to standard conversions for me :D

listen to dr c he know best probably .06 to .08mm .5 is was off, are you sure your not forgetting a zero = .053/.055?

that is .002" to .003"

they come with just under .002" at about .0015" (one and a half thou) when all new. in metric that is .033mm

I think 0.53mm is a printing error isn't it? don't you mean .053mm?

.53mm = .021" (10 times to big)
.053mm = .002" = just about right!

Opps my stuff up its is .0806mm clearance. The measurement had a zero missing at start.
Bore 100.0506
new coated pistion 99.97
= .0806mm what is right on the edge of too large going by the manual.
or .03937"

Whats your thoughts?????

at most it would have alittle piston slap or knock when its cold or smoke a little cold, i think you would be ok to run it, if i remember right mine was a lttle on the high side too and all is well....you didnt get the high build coating on the sides to try to build it up right? just the normal thickness skirt coating wiht that measurment should be fine imo...

today it is worn badly and in a year? shagged right out I'm afraid.

time for a new one. you'll only have coked up bike half the time and cold be difficult to start etc.

Strange thing is taffy the bike started first time everytime was running real hard only pulled it down due to a little bit of smoke when you ran at around 60kmh for a while and got stuck at the lights idling on the open road no smoke and none on start up.
