Piston for Husaberg FE 650cc 2005

RE: foto broken piston

hey spanner!

there is an arrow at the bottom of the piston pointing up. you're therefore looking at the piston how it would run. the plug is on the right on a husey mate!

Here's the result of my sunday morning drive. Strange scratches all in same direction on surface of the piston...

We have a few of those as well, it happens but it costs.

The scratches is strange, have not seen before.
New piston and out again.

RE: Re: foto broken piston

The spark plug hole is central last time I looked, access is from the right side of the bike If a screwdriver was angled from the right side of the bike with the piston down the bore it could contact in the area on the left where the scratches are. While turning to crank to tdc the screwdriver may catch on the piston, because of the angle , causing the scratching. Do this a few times to get multiple scratches. Only a theory? spanner

RE: Re: foto broken piston

quite right spanner! when i check (roughly) for TDC i can stand a "pencil" (LOL!!!) upright which i trust is somewhere around the middle but i get your drift.

RE: Re: foto broken piston

It looks more like something exploded inside the engine. (particles all went to the left)
Surtenly no damagde made by tool...
Spark plug and valves look perfect also...

Maybe something got thrue the air filter and damaged the bike...

RE: Re: RE: Piston.

i had an elko piston break in half at the gudgeon pin recently. the top of the piston is unmarked.

very little material actually broke.

thomas

i have weighed the elko and it doesn't seem any lighter than a woessner?
