Picking up '02 650 Berg-needs work!

This particular bike I'm getting from my uncle. We raced it 4 years ago for two consecutive night race desert series. This bike also has a Vegas to Reno run on it. From what I can remember, it was a b*tch to start and the e-start was worthless. HOWEVER, it was the fastest 4-stroke I've ever ridden.....when we could get it running. I haven't seen the bike in awhile, and the last I heard, a bearing went out in one of the cases and needs to be replaced/repaired. Also, the exhaust is missing from the bike. Where can I find these parts?

I would like to plate the bike also, and dual sport it. I saw an '01 501 plated in Salt Lake the other day and was blown away. I didn't know that anyone in Utah even knows about Husaberg!

RE: Picking up

welcome to UHE racer person thingy bloke (PS would be nice to have a name and where-u-fron in your signature)

standard exhausts are ten-a-penny from the dealers as used etc or on ebay. the bearing? don't you think you ought to strip the engine first?

there is no way i would rebuild it without spending good money on upgrading to better and later parts.

the list is endless but have a look at the doc for

rocker mod
alloy camwheel or steel?
camchain
modify the tensioner
modify the gear selector fork or update.
check the crank tolerances
latest balancer system
could even beef up all the starter parts if you wanted?

there's a lot to do to make the bike reliable. go to the doc and garb the info.

good luck!

Good Lord, there is a ton of info in that Doc! Thanks for the info! After spending a couple hours reading through it all, I wonder if I can just ride the bike. I knew the bike was finicky, but there are a LOT of things to fix. Is anybody running a stock pre-2004 bike?

hold it dave!

a lot of it is modify not buy! you can also like me buy the follwer bearings and not update the rockers. the balancer i would get. you probably have a steel cam sprocket anyway....

I got the bike and started to clean her up a bit. The curious side got the better of me and I stripped her down a little. I pulled the clutch cover and found what needs to be replaced. Are there any online microfisce's that I can use to find a part number for that bearing? Is this a bearing I can find at a local machine shop? I also found out that a guy named Fletch, who owns Fletch Trick, did the motor on this Berg. I don't know exactly what that entails, or even who that is. Hopefully some of you guys know.

You guys are awesome! Got the PN (360034-01). Thanks for the info! Now to find a machinist to clean up that area...

Fletch, is Russ Fletcher former factory Husaberg mechanic. He is located in the Pacific Northwest. I have seen some of his head work (big valves etc..) it looks top notch. My friend Mike is now the proud owner of Brett from Montrose, Co 2000 Fe501. It has the big valve head done by Fletch and it is a Beast. I have Fletch's cell number somewhere, send me a PM if you want it.
