Parts identification for Husabergs through the 90s

Hey Taffy,
I checked my 94 FE 350 and it has Gear positioning numbers that follow the shifter up vertically. on the outside edge of the case. it is aluminum. Or a cast aluminum metal.

Wow! Maybe the fins are for cooling the stator? It almost looks like they used the same mold for the aluminum cover as they did for the plastic.

I had an aluminum cover machined years ago. I included 1/8" pipe threads in 2 bosses so that I could circulate cooling air past the stator. Had a small vent filter with a line down to the cover and another line going back up to the airbox so the engine would pull a little air through the system. You can see the red 1/4" air lines in the photo below. I never had a stator problem with that setup. The cover also sported an o-ring groove to seal the system.

Fast forward to today. Thumper Racing, when building my 660, drilled a hole from the stator area into the crank case as a wet stator conversion. My aluminum cover is now being used to seal up that wet stator.
