I have had 6 left covers arrive for the 1989-2000 engines.

2 have the Husaberg logo on them and;
6-5-4-3-2-N-1 vertically.

one has the Husaberg logo on it - no gear numbers

two are blank...plain

I see Husaberg only claim one change from 1989-200 and that was in 1994.

any ideas here on what a genuine cover had on it through these 12 years?

cheers

aluminium Ignition/stator covers.

I've seen a few about. I don't think the factory ever made them did they?

they also (this is the third set I've handled) always seem to be 1-2mm bigger than the crankcase as if they weren't made for a Husaberg?

I trust they were all made as an aftermarket item? any history with these?

Hey Taffy,
I checked my 94 FE 350 and it has Gear positioning numbers that follow the shifter up vertically. on the outside edge of the case. it is aluminum. Or a cast aluminum metal.

I was offered this photo by a customer that bought two of the covers. I'd never seen this before.

Wow! Maybe the fins are for cooling the stator? It almost looks like they used the same mold for the aluminum cover as they did for the plastic.

I had an aluminum cover machined years ago. I included 1/8" pipe threads in 2 bosses so that I could circulate cooling air past the stator. Had a small vent filter with a line down to the cover and another line going back up to the airbox so the engine would pull a little air through the system. You can see the red 1/4" air lines in the photo below. I never had a stator problem with that setup. The cover also sported an o-ring groove to seal the system.

Fast forward to today. Thumper Racing, when building my 660, drilled a hole from the stator area into the crank case as a wet stator conversion. My aluminum cover is now being used to seal up that wet stator.
