Hello all,
In the classified section I am blowing out a few performance items along with some OEM. I am giving the classified section a shot as opposed to Ebay so please have a look.

Thank you in advance.

Sincerely,
Dale

Hi Dale

i'm running a FE400e with a 53 cam, keihin carb and MX tailpipe. what effect would 1mm OS exhaust valves have?

i think i'm running 37/30 at present. i figured that i'd lose some torque or would i gain everywhere/overall? porting required for results?

i also have the larger i/d downpipes that the new 450 fits could you plonk that in the equation please?

regards

Taffy

Hi Taffy,
With exception of the X1 camshaft all Husaberg engines tested to date have shown a marked increase in mid to top end performance without a measurable decrease in low rpm power.

Sincerely,
Dale

thank you dale

and if i can squeeze you for a bit more.... what about those larger i.d downpipes on my engine in your guestimated opinion?

i think standard are 26mm i/d and the larger are 28mm i/d which tells me that it's a winner to go larger?

regards

Taffy

Hi Taffy,
This is all very exhausting. :D

I am unable to speak from personal experience regarding your particular combination, however, it is indeed of my opinion that an increase in primary tube diameter will prove of benefit. From experience I can tell you that with longer duration cam profiles (ie X1 / X2) a 31mm ID primary tube is the best overall compromise regarding 400, 450 and 501 Husaberg race engines as the stepped outlet reduces exhaust pulsing and consequent intake reversion.

Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
Dale

MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm Dale :D

just as i thought. my old tuning books which are far from perfect: i believe always recommended that the exhaust i/d be 100% of exhaust valve size for ROAD RACING (and read flat track pretty much?) so a 31mm exhaust valve with a 26mm i/d downpipe ain't where it's at. 28mm from the 450/550 should keep the torque and some....

i'm still sorting what i'm doing this autumn so we'll see....

trust everything has gone Ti at your end now?

regards

Taffy

Dale,
Will the OS ex. valves work with the stock seats, or are new ones required?

thanks.

Oversize exhaust valves will indeed work with stock seats.
Dale
