Hey guys,
Been a while since I have been quite active. Few posts here and there, but nothing serious. Here's the story.
My job moved me to Europe. I now live in Eindhoven, and all is good. Well, not everything is good... I don't have a bike anymore. It's funny, there are very few things I miss about home, and my berg's are one of them.
So, I got here October 1st. September sucked major ***, trying to get everything done in time to get on the plane and go. On top of that, work ****** me around like a jap bike does a rider. I actually didn't get my contract and shipping/storage information until about a week and a half before I left. This is when I found out the fate of my bikes. Turns out, my company does not store any vehicles, including dirtbikes. I ended up having to sell my car, truck, and yes, my '03 berg. THAT was a disappointing day. I posted it here in the classifieds on Monday for $2k. I paid 3 for it... The bike was sold and out of my hands 2 days later. Goes to show that a cheap newer berg will sell. The way I saw it was, if I put it in storage, after 2 years, it would have depreciated to the same amount as what I sold it for. So, I figured that I would pass it on to the next guy so it would get some use, and not live in a box like a leftover does. Berg's deserve to be ridden, at any cost.
My older 91 is a different story. The shipping/storage guys showed up on Thursday, 2 days before I left. I knew before they arrived that I could not store any vehicles. Sooo, my brother came over Wednesday night. In about 2 hours, and a few beers, we had the bike in pieces. All that remained was the engine in the frame.
The shipping company came Thursday, as said. He took a quick survey of the goods on the inside. I said we should begin with the stuff I have in the garage. I open it up, and there is a dismantled Husaberg sitting in front of the guys face. He says, "Someone mentioned something about a motorcycle" Me, "I don't see any motorcycle, do you?" Him, "You clever son-of-a..." You get the point. I had to give myself an adda-boy for that one.
Bad news, no bike here. Good news, something to do when I get home in 2 years, and my baby waiting for me, patiently. Now, let's hope nothing rusts too bad.
I have done some searching online here, and found that the cheapest berg is well over 2k euros, and that is for an older design bike. I was shocked, but not dismayed. I definately don't have a means to transport a bike, yet. I have decided to get into Karting, since there is a local track in town, and it is my real passion in life (4 wheel racing). The bergs are simply my hobby.
Those that have read this far probably know me. And, probably know I would like to attend the pheonix ride in February. I'll be home for a wedding on the 11th, and would love to ride the week before, and ski the week after. So, if anyone has a spare berg, or any other bike available, I would certainly oblige. I'm also definately in agreement with the "you break it you buy policy" on parts, so please don't let that behoove you.
That's it. I'm back online, finally.
