Taffy , I am not familiar with either of these items what are they made of what color , degree of gloss etc... Let me know , I'm sure I can point you in the right direction .

the igniotion cover is on the right on the end of the crank and made of alumninium. covers the stator...

the left cover is the clutch cover to some etc. houses the primary drive gear and camchain etc. again made of alloy and covered ion a thick silver paint that has flaked and chipped off over time.

thanks for the help.

well powder coat seems like an option that will hold up well .. but the 350- 400 deg f~ temps for 20 mins may cause some warpage? maybe not i dont know enough about how those castings are made or what alloys ..... por 15 is making some very durable paints that are even uhv safe (can be in sun without failing or fading) probably not much help.... on a lot of the customs ive worked on we use emron single stage on the frame because its tough and the stuff cuts and polishes like a dream! especially for single stage`!

It's all a matter of terminology . I was thinking body parts and covers .
Will get back to you . I have to get ready for family barbeque now .

Cheers , Ryan

Taffy ,
There are a number of urethane paint products, which are both durable and chemical resistant Dupont's Imron being one of them BASF being a major paint and coatings supplier on your side of the pond also has equivalent products . The problem being cost , $ 150- 200 .for all the components needed to do yourself . Maybe you could aquire the small quantities you need from a local body shop or commercial refinisher . They would also have the paint charts for color selection .
Powder coat is another option . Check your area for industrial powder coaters ones that do tool grade stuff such as office and school furniture
public fixtures ,things like that . A shop like this could probably coat your items very reasonably and get close to original color . Shops which do
custom powder coating such as on show bikes and hot rods would be very costly .

HI Taffy
Did you repaint your covers if so what did you use paint wise or did you get them powder coated?

B

i never did. ran out of time....

i have let the ignition cover fall back on it's natural aluminium state which is fine and doesn't corrode.

one day!

Taffy
