hello again!
i am ready to do some painting job to my husa frame.
i have stripped everything down now and tomorrow i am planning to use a sandblast machine (i hope this is the corect term).

after sandblasting,is it better to apply directly the paint or the first coating material (no i don't how it is called in english :) ) and after the paint?

i am on the impression that applying directly the paint on to the sandblasted frame you come up with a more solid and durable result, even though you have to use lot more paint.

what do you suggest??

i would love to have it anodized or paint it electrostaticaly but this solution is 600km away from where i live.

the color i want is THE blue of course, but i don't know which blue is the corect one. anyone has a ordering code for the apropriate husablue color??

I think you have to do a couple of coats of primer first.
This gives the paint something to bond to and will protect the frame more.
I assume the paint is base coat/clear coat, I would add a couple layers of clear.

When I bought my bike a few years ago I had them install a scotts dampener on delivery. I had them weld the stationary post for the dampener to the backbone of the frame and they touched it up with a little paint to make it look good before I took ownership. I asked what the color of the paint they used was and they told me they used the "Suzuki blue" factory color. I don't know the exact nomenclature or color but it matches exactly.

Regards,

Only powdercoat will adhere properly to sandblasted bare metal without a primer.

I think thats what you meant by elcctrostaticaly (powdercoat)

Once sandblasted the frame will begin to rust. You should primer it right away.

Any spray can type of paint will not be of very high quality.

If you have an autobody shop nearby have them use the best primer/sealer (two component expoxy non-sanding) they can get and use the best polyurethane basecoat and clearcoat available.

Powdercoat would be less expensive than automotive paint.

For a primer sealer I suggest
PPG DPLF

For the colorcoat:
PPG Deltron 2000 basecoat

And the clear
PPG Diamond Clearcoat

Since you are sandblasting you can omit all the cleaning/metal conditioning steps listed before priming. Sandblasting is the best way to prepare metal for primer as long as the metal is not too thin.
