can anyone tell me why when my bike has been on it side. either by me fall of as i fail to make yet another climb do i have to wait a few minets for it to fire up again.any ideas as it is starting ot piss me off.

if the bike falls on its side the fuel that was in the float bowl escapes via the overflow ..yeah

now the possibilities of oil saturating your air cleaner via the breather comes to mind .

i dont know your valve clearances , i have no idea on the cond of your spark plug . do you kick it after a fall or do you hammer your E start .

i have no idea on the condition of your battery , if you have the correct float level , if you have decent compression .

:?: :?: :?:

I will look over my carb and check the pipes i will also take BendBergs advice and stop falling

Once when I came off the petrol decided to siphon out of the Carby via the breather and overflow pipes. I think the float got stuck.

I have been told this does happen to others so a tap on the side of the carbie can help.

After being towed out of the bush due to the lack of petrol I pulled the carb down and cleaned it all. All was good afterwards.

i had to go 'profile' and 'all posts' just to see what you ride. please put your bike in your signature.

ok you have a last of the line FE400e (2004). they tend to run rich at idle and you need a lean setting when VERY warm to get it restarted. you have two choices: first you can design your own hotstart or you can try and make the bike leaner at idle.

to make it leaner at idle you need to pull the atomizer and the needle. lay the needle in the atomizer and hold up and look through to a light: you're looking for ovality, also any wear in the needle like a shot blasted effect.

i would always suggest an IXU24 plug ANYTIME! I BELIEVE IN THE ELECTRICS SECTION OF THE DOC YOU WILL SEE A "PHOTO" OF THE FLAME OF A STD AND AN ixu PLUG. whoops capitals!!!!

other than converting to keihin needle there is little you can do about the jetting except to say that a 42PJ really should be the biggest and many here run 33 or 35. try 38 or 40?

finally, you need to find the true TDC which is probably out. the correct TDC means you can change the ignition timing. i did this last week and the bike morphed into a monster!!!!

Taffy

It isn't one of the models with the crankcase breather plumbed straight into the airbox? A decent fall on the left side on mine puts oil thru the air intake.
