owner & service manual fe501 2000

Hi guys, I am the new proud owner of a FE501 2000, I wish I could have the manuals to start getting knowing this beauty.
I just bought it in Spain and maybe too cheap (600€) therefore I spect some problems to be solved in the near future.
Appart from the normal maintenace needed, the electric start does not work and I would like to try to fix it.
Tha´s why I need the service manual and If anyone could tell me this model years that share same engine?

Electric start was introduced in 1995. An oil pump was introduces in 1997. 1997 - 2000 engines were very similar. Always check part numbers from the parts manuals to be sure. Oftentimes an updated (newer) part is more desireable. A common problen on the 95-2000 models estart is that the sprague wears out. I already had a loock (by the way, I think there are a couple of missing pages, 31,39)
It is a shame to have to split in half the whole engine ir order to fix the electric starter, I will begin with easier maintenance tasks.
Regarding valves setting, the manual shows 0.1mm, but the same in all of them?
 
same on all valves but ideally 0.12mm or a tight '5 thou'.
i still have the original physical manuals for sale.
If it is electric start, the anacronym for your bike is a FE501e

Thanks Taffy, indeed FE501e, I simply expected different clearance in exhaust valves, like in my yamaha sr 250.
I sent you an email a couple of days ago regarding the manuals, you gave your email address to other guy in the forum to send him the manuals and I thought you could do it for me aswell.

Husaberg FE501e year 2000, two questions.
Does it share engine with other year´s FE501e?
Does it fit in its frame other engines, for example Husqvarna?

The first generation engine went from 1989-2000 with updates every year. Most parts will interchange.
I don't think it is a direct bolt in to a Husky.
Since estart came out in 95 and the estart frames are different it is a direct bolt in for 95-2000 estart models and perhaps 2001-2008 models with some mods..

Just in case I have to replace the whole engine.
I just bought it and the problem is that (appart from that the electric start doesn´t work), I do not think that the former owner treat this beauty gently and I am a bit afraid of its 14.000km
 
Husaberg did major updates as soon as they could up to 2000 and then it just went wrong. The 1999 was the first year of a new ignition. 2000 was the first year of a new frame and hydraulic clutch. 2001 was a whole new engine.
the 2000 electric start engine will only go in another 1996-2000 electric start bike as the leccy boot was on the front of the engine and would hit the frame tube of a kickstart model. spares are still plentiful. but rare gears if needed are NOT. it is likely that all you need is a new sprague bearing. but the outer gear can sometimes be toast too.

I would like to have any manual related to my bike. I mean owner´s manual, service manual or any other manual concerning FE501e if available.
As I said I just bought this bike and I want to know about it to avoid possible inconveniences in the future.
To give you an idea, I still I am not sure even how to change the oil properly, quantity, tipe of oil, screens
 
I rode my second hand husaberg this morning for the first time!!
What an incredible and genuine machine!!
Relaible even without the electric start and temperamental with the throtte.
I got oil 10w-30 and battery 12v 3ah to replace.
Thank you gays, I made the right choice bying this FE501e´2000
 
Hi guys!!! Do yo think a can replace my damaged back whell (Husaberg FE501 2000) for the FE550 2005 model? Does it fit with everything allright?
 
it should fit straight in?

I do have the big hub though if you want to keep it original. mine are a dark blue. TBH, I don't think I've ever advertised them!

Is because I realised that I got the thick square swingarm, not like many others that I have seen.
