Hello All,
Here it is:
1. Going to do a oil change. I start the bike and wife calls me for a phone call. I get involved in a work call and 15-20 min. later remember bike was running. OVERHEATED TO THE POINT WATER WAS COMING OUT OVERFLOW. When I did the oil change the magnet which had been clean the last 2 oil changes (300 miles) looked like a Christmas tree of shavings . Also some aluminum specs on the screen. (100) mile next oil change magnet still looked pretty bad but no aluminum shavings.
A couple of weeks later a old friend asked me to go on a poker run. I signed up for a 40 mile course no 42 year old with fake hips and 300lbs should NEVER of dreamed of. I broke off the new kickstand-bent the handle bars and broke shifter off.
I thought I may have a cooling problem but the race had no overheating problems.
Since the hips will take about 2 months to get back in place and my stupid over heating mistake I am now tearing down the bike a little while I heal.
I have it down to the frame motor and swing arm.
I plan to replace the hoses and the front steering bearings that were shot.
I NEED TO KNOW WHAT YOU MECHANICS WOULD DO FROM HERE?
WHAT DO YOU THINK I DID IN THE OVERHEAT MISTAKE TO CAUSE THE METAL FLAKES?
I HAVE ABOUT 5000 FLAWLESS MILES SINCE BOSS REBUILT IT.
