Just had my water pump seal pop after some spirited riding on Michigan Ave in Chicago. Luckily it happened right when I pulled up to park by a retailer instead of when a young lady from Texas was standing on the island to hand me my hat after it flew off
Since I only had little drip of oil from the weep hole before and the new bearing was installed last May maybe 3,000 miles before... not sure if it caused the seal to blow... or just the mileage/time.
Question is if the bearing is shot and a new Orangeberg kits needs to be installed. If the bearing is shot... does it need a new Orangeberg seal or can the bearing be popped out and the new one pressed in?
Bike is a 2008 650. Incredible city bike! Eat potholes like chocolate kisses and makes speed jumps out of bumps. Sidewalks are always an option in bumper to bumper traffic... in industrial areas.
Would love to hear the informed opinions of those with experience. Also would love to hear a dead give away for knowing when the water pump bearing is shot.
Thanks guys! Hope you all had a great Irish holiday! We do it big here in Chicago.
Cheers!
