So Im trying to dig up a rod, piston & liner for my 03'650.
In the mean time Im enjoying my FE 450 thats been debored to a 390.
Im in a situation where an 02' 501 is available to me for cheap. Its a strong rebuilt engine w/rekluse clutch on a clean bike that is not being ridden.
$650 cash , Cally title.

So on the quest for cubic inches, this could be a step till I find the rest of my 650 parts reasonably ?

Any input appreciated !---Proflow

Im thinking of simply dropping that 501 into my 450 chassy & ride the snot outa it ! I can have the extra 650 head worked over w/bigger valves, ported, better springs & put it on right ? Its an 02' my 650 is an 06'. So dunno.

This 501 recently got a new cam chain, updated tensioner, cam & berrings.
It has WP worked over suspension , excel wheels etc... Ready to ride.
Local to me also :) Sunday is the day :) Im stoked !
Only downer is the older ignition that I know of.
Not sure of other downfalls...

Still looking for 650 internals though !

we are having them made proflow. the factory wanted 310gbp this time last week for the last ones. that is about $500 i think.

Proflow, you must be the guy I emailed the other day about a 600 engine in Phoenix that would bolt right up to your '06 chassis.

Here's another thought - I had a custom Carillo rebuildable rod made for one of my engines and it ran me $375. I'm sure they can do something similar for your 650. I believe Wossner has new pistons for about $300. So, for the purchase price of that 501, you could be most of the way to having your 650 running. Then, I'll bet that someone like LA Sleeve can make a new liner.

Just something to think about.

Come to find i'm going to get this bike for around half what I though :)
So I'm going to run that 501 while building the 650 :)

Wo, back up the bus a sec....
Looks like the 02 501 has a single headpipe that exits on the right side of the bike.
Is that going to be a fitment issue going into my 08' FE450 ?

Thanks in advance---Proflow

Yes! It might be a fitment issue! Everything can be done, technically, but it might call for fabrication - and probably will?

I dont have pics yet.
The plan is to pick up the bike early eve today.
I did however see another pic of an 02'501 & the exhaust is on the right side.
beings Im still planning on building the 650 engine, im not willing to mod the frame for exhaust hangers etc..

I may possibly keep this bike as a dirt machine for my spouse or simply part it out.
Wish the powerplant was a plug & play in my 450 till the 650 build is done, but oh well.

If you are ok with doing some cross checking you can use Motosport.com They carry Husaberg parts. I have had great success finding parts for my FC 470, you might give it a try?
