opening airbox

when walking round a supermoto race paddock there seems hardly a bike that hasn't had holes drilled in the airbox for improved flow--------while most would argue that an '05 FS650e (my present bike) hardly needs more power I am curious to know what arrangements have been made to open up the husaberg airbox.

A few options:

run without airfilter, this is the simplest option.

An Italian team a few years ago used to cut out a hole in the front of the seat to let the airfilter protrude.

Buy a K & N filter, modify the frame to take it and off you go......

The later models (04/05) have better inlet boots, that, I believe allow a more laminar flow into the carb and therefore improve the performance somewhat anyway.

Hope this helps,
Simon

technitians claim that this mod adds 1 bhp at higher revs..
i don't think though that 1 freaking bhp worths drilling your seat :D
