Hi all,
Just been discussing the optional big fuel tank for the older bikes (pre 2000) with my friendly spare parts man.

He was unable to tell me how much they held, other than the fact it was "a lot" :?

Can anybody tell me exactly what capacity of fuel they hold please, just out of curiousity?

Cheers

Thanks Jason,
19 litres. That is " a lot" 8O
I seem to recall a post on attempts to shoehorn one of these units onto a post 2000 bike ?. Or discussing it anyway. :?

I know it would be ugly as sin  and there would be issues with frame braces and seat fitment, but it would seem that around main frame backbone, air cleaner and radiator it MIGHT have similar dimensions and it might be a option with some fabrication.

Maybe ?.

The parts guy I was talking too will quit em cheap as he has " a lot"
of them New Old Stock gathering dust in his dealership.

Roughly 31 lbs. of fuel 8O

There's one on eBay(US) right now. I see them on there a lot.

I've not seen an older tank on a newer bike yet. I've seen a few going the other direction.

[EDIT]Taffy has had some good success with forming the tank with heat. I imagine with patience, you could do it.[/EDIT]

thanks,
