Old-School - '96 FE350 Rebuild

Hi there - Great site and content

By way of introduction, I am from Auckland New Zealand, and being a 40's something, have a bit of a passion for 80's era mx/enduro bikes. I have a restored 1989 ATK 250 and 1987 Cagiva WMX 250 from this era of experiment and new technology, a white knuckle ride, but not too well refined, just like the Group 'B' rally era.

Anyhow, as I am now out riding with my 10 year old son, I decided it best that I buy a 4 stroke, enter a 'modern' bike for me, a 1996 FE 350.

As with my other bikes, it is a total do-up, so total strip, sandblast and powdercoat, new bearings throughout, re-built forks and shock and gold Excel rims for a bit of bling.

Now, here's where I need some assistance/advice from the learn'd gentlemen I see helping others on this site - the motor needs serious work, as it has obviously had a cam chain/timing catastrophe.

Having totally stripped the motor, I find the gear on the rear of the clutch basket is missing a tooth, the lower cam chain sprocket is missing a tooth, as is the crank gear. Also, two valves may be bent, as they bind slightly when turned, so would prefer to replace these also.

I have spied various parts that I need on ebay, but purchasing and arranging delivery is a bit of a hassle to New Zealand, so would prefer to buy what I need from a respected technician or dealer if possible.

What are the chances of finding/buying the following parts for a '96 FE 350:
Clutch Basket
Lower Cam Chain Sprocket
Crank gear
Set of valves
Cam Chain
Piston and Rings (might as well refresh while I am at it)

I appreciate this is a bit of a dinosaur, but I like Old-School, so any assistance or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers, Tony P.

RE: Old-School -

I think the NZ Husaberg dealer was around from 1991/ 2 models so you could get some good advise from him. Those parts did not change that much from year to year.
