OIL VENT LINE OUT OF THE AIRBOX?

Hi friends again:

It´s almost 2 years since I changed to Husaberg and I am using this free consultation service. I am glado to say that I am thrilled and extremely happy with the 2 products (my bike and this page).

I´ve read a couple of times, that people take out the OIL VENT LINE OUT OF THE AIRBOX, because supposedly the hot oil plays games with the air sensor inside there.

Dirt Rider review on a FE570 `09 commented on this http://www.dirtrider.com/reviews/long_h ... index.html

Personally I´ve seen how my air filter has some oil or moisture in a specific spot where the OIL VENT LINE is located, so I don´t know if to do the same or leave as it comes.

If I have to take it out, please explain to me how to do it, since I looked at it and is like a consolidated part of the air filter box and doesn´t look like an spare part you can take off.

Let me know what you think.

Maybe someone could send me a picture of the OIL VENT LINE to see if we are talking about the same thing (small silver little tube located below the air filter hole inside the air filter cage, near a small black pin).

Greetings.

There is a hose that attaches to the aluminum piece. Replace the one on the motor with a longer one and plug the hole in the airbox with some silicone.

Most people I know that have done this is because of oil getting in the airbox from extended high RPM use.....

Dear Doug:
I don´t understand the procedure quite well.
Do I need to open the motor in order to do this???
I thought you just have to close the aluminun oil vent small pipe but then how will the motor breath.
Hope you can clarify me a little bit about this.
Greetings.

OK, here it goes, feel free to ask more questions if I am not clear.

The aluminum piece you see in the air box is stuck into a hole in the plastic. On the motor side of it is a hose going to the crankcase. remove the aluminum piece and plug the hole in the airbox. Take the hose going from the crankcase (it is just plugged into the crankcase) and make it a longer hose (buy at auto parts store), this hose then goes out the bottom of the bike. If you are afraid of getting stuff up the hose you can always add a small filter on the end.

I'll work on getting up some pictures.....

Dear Doug:

It´s more clear, but not enough. How do you plug a hole in the air filter???

Some pictures will help a lot.

Thanks

You do not plug the filter. You plug the hole that goes into the airbox.
When you re-route the vent make sure it can breathe properly or you will get unhealthy crank pressure. For supermoto racing we use a catch can (that is ventilated) that collects the oil.

Some pictures pleaseeeee.. I don´t get it.

I am sorry for my lack of language (specially technical words) cause I am not a english native speaker.

Greetings.

interesting topic. I am racing supermoto and notice small amounts of oil in the airbox after long flat out 6th gear straights :)

does this really stuff up the sensor? it is nice to skip through scrutineering without getting any hoses checked :)

Hey Seb,
Don't worry, I didn't forget. The lock on my shed is frozen so I can not open it. I hope to get into it this weekend, it is supposed to warm up a little. If not, I may have to wait for it to sublimate.
