having just bought husaberg 650 supermoto i was doing oil change has anyone had difficulty removing oil screen plug im finding it near impossible to remove any ideas would be appreciated

You might try spraying PB blaster penetrating catalyst or similar on the plug and let it cook for 15 minutes or so. Might help brake it loose.

people tend to overtighten these with the thought that it is holding the engine together [-X. a couple of ways to break it free is a hammer impact tool or heating the case around it with impact. using brute force with a socket usually just rounds the hex.

Be careful once its broken free that the threads don't come with it .
been there with my oil bung :furious:

I always put a little never seize on the when installing and use a torque wrench Never had a problem

Don't panic!, just get a medium sized rubber mallet, put a 13mm socket wrench on the bolt head and give it a few sharp taps in the undo direction! it will come undone. Its the disimilar metal material that case welds the bolt head to the engine case. I always use this method to get the plug undone in my berg and so do the mechanics here at KTM..they actually showed me this trick. ;)

p.s i actually have a mini breaker bar for removing this plug with the rubber mallet, but a socket wrench will do.

13mm 6-sided socket in 1/2" drive, 12" extention, nice long-armed ratchet.

don't use the wrong tools or a multi-spline socket or spanner.

if the head is poor - great! hammer the socket on for that nice firm grip and do the above.
