hi how do you know if the oil ring is upside down because my fe 501 elduro is smoking quite alot (white smoke) will it do any harm to engine head gasket is ok as are the valve stem seals wen you run it hard wen riding it seams to clear up abit / it starts first kick hot or cold on button aswell thank any help much appriciated

The oil control ring is bi directional.
Inspect your valve guide seals as they are a known source of trouble.
