Oil nipple

The oil connection nipple on my crank is missing (2002 FE650) and nowhere to be found in the cases. Is this a major problem?

I noticed in the parts manuals for the later years, that there is no oil nipple anymore on the crank, so maybe I have a later year crank, how can I verify what year crank I have?

B B,
In your photo it looks like your nipple is in your crank. The nipple is only about 8mm long.
When I bought my bike mine was missing. I installed a new one andhas not missed a beat in 500 mi.

Here is a picture when it is missing.

As per Buck it does look as though the nipple is still there.

A word of caution if it not there but the treaded bit is still in the crank then it has snapped.
This happened to me and was the first indication of main bearing failure. ('02 fs650)
