Oil Leak

Hi Everyone.

Just recently bought a 2009 450. It was running smooth as the first few days but in the morning i noticed some oil drips. looks like it was coming from the crank cover? is this an easy fix or a big problem?

just had another look. front sprocket had a bit of play in it. would that cause the leak?

check if its coming from the water pump weep hole, output shaft, rocker cover, clutch cover etc etc

clean it up nice and go ride in some dust for 30 min you'll soon find it

I am having the same issue. Had the bike in the garage and noticed a spot of oil on the ground. I cleaned it and went for a ride. Still cant tell where its coming from. Its ether coming form the Shifter or the Sprocket.

Whats strange is that one of the casings bolts is always covered in oil but Its not under the shifter. Its just a little off to the left of it.

I'll let you know what it turns out to be. Otherwise if you get it let me know what you're was.

any conclusions? similar or same leak on my new 2012 570

I got my bike with only 2000kms and after 3days riding straight it developed a leak which got worse and worse. It was leaking onto my chain (so we joked about built-in scott oiler), but i suspect its from the rubber grommet for stator wires not sealing well. Either that or the gasket for the stator casing is fubar, but pretty new bike. So I haven't pulled apart as I was riding in Australia (Tasmania) where the bike was purchased, and its now floating to me in a container to NZ. As soon as it arrives i'll crack the casing and try to save the gasket if its still good. 4000kms on it now, so hopefully just some high temp sealant on the rubber grommet and she's good2go.

Any news on your oil leaks guys? The rest of the bike is phenomenal!
