Oil leak? - FE650

Hello, I'm new here :D

Just bought my first Husaberg last saturday and it has been running great!
Awesome bike, and this forum seems pretty awesome too :)

However, yesterday I checked the oil. I had to fill 0.3l to get it up to the inspection glass.

After riding it for half an hour it seems to drip something from the gas tank, its dripping down on the exhaust.

It also seems to be dripping from underneath. Anyone else had the same problem before?

Adding some pics!

Thanks,
Lasse.

The top leak is probably rocker inspection covers, even with new gaskets they can still leak. I put Threebond gasket sealer on both surfaces along with a new gasket, usually does the trick. Easy job, tank off and 2 bolts per cover.
Lower leak could be the clutch casing if all the oil is underneath, as above, new gasket and sealer on both faces. Check it's not coming fron the kick start shaft o-ring or gear selector shaft first.

Regards Freaky

Dont' forget the breather hose/hoses from the frame to the rocker cover. They will split over time and leak.

welcome to the site lasse

please put the bike and year in your signature as well?

ok, why not have a really good clean up with the tank off. then start the bike for 2-3 minutes and watch where the oil comes out.

the two places i suspect are:
the oil trap tube being split near the clip or the spigot is loose.

regards

Taffy

A leak that big should be easy to find.
Degrease everything, then run, then look.
Some guys overtighten the valve inspection covers which causes them to warp.
If leaking from here then check for this.
Add to the list of usual suspects the rocker cover itself although yours does look a little higher up.
The oil down the bottom could be coming from the top - 1 thing at a time.

Noticed this after an hour riding today.. no, no wheelies :D

Hehe, thanks for all the replies guys!

I just hope it's not the clutch case :)

You were right Berger!

I hope this is the only leak and the oil on the crankcase is coming from the breather hose.

So what should I do?

Replace the breather hose or do a breather mod? Any recommendations on the breather mod, I have read the breather 101 thread and seen some different solutions.

Thanks,
Lasse

Swapped the breather hose.

And I changed the oil, now I can't roll it forwards or backwards even in neutral or with the clutch engaged. Why?

Thanks,
Lasse

You have the oil trap, the breather hole in the frame or the crankcase blocked with something.

I block my frame this weekend to probe a breather mod and i have lose of power and the clutch don't work with high RPMs and bad work at low RPMs. The oil was coming out from the oil trap and i lose 250cc of oil.

My breather mod obviously is a big **** :( :( :( :D :D

I must design other mod because I don't like the default breather. It's is OK for the SuperMotard, but I make enduro. One day I fall and all the oil go to the carb. I was at 40Km of the civilization and the Berg don't want run. 8O 8O I hurt my leg and i must turn on my Berg with him. A Odyssey.

Regards.

P.D.: Excuse for my English  I'm from Spain and I don't speak English very well...
