Oil in the flywheel housing

I've got oil in the flywheel housing, is this just a badly installed seal ring or is this an indicator for something more serious that could be wrong?

I haven't had time to pull the flywheel and take a look at the seal ring, just fishing for ideas or suggestions.

What's the proper way off installing a seal ring like this? Any special tricks, I installed this one in question myself so that will probably be the root of my problem :)

I dont know what year you have but for my 98 600 Changing the seal was pretty easy, one problem I do have is when I loosend the stator screws one of the screws leaks oil, you might want to check if you have that problem. I was lucky the first time I tore into it, the stator screw had just started coming loose and we caught it in time, otherwise that could have been a major mess!

see if you can move the flywheel up & down,if so the crank bearings are on the way out.if not its just the oil seal.
