In a previous post I mentioned how when I dropped my bike the fuel started to flow from carbie overflow and it didn't stop for a long time or maybe not at all. I had starting and flooding issues and it appears that oil has entered into the carb from the crankcase. How can this happen ?? I assume the only possibility is via the diaphragm pump ??
I was unable to tell of the oil had made it to the petrol tank as I lost all my fuel through overflow or elsewhere so it was topped up after being empty but with all that Oil on the pug etc. it wouldn't fire.
I have taken the diaphragm pump off and cleaned it - it had a few bits of dirt in it but it seems to be intact. Pulled the carbie off and cleaned all jets etc. needle and seat seem fine - a slight ring mark around needle but no sign of wear.
I have had what appears to be an oil leak getting worse and I had already worked on the starter o-ring thinking that was the problem. It appears towrds front of bike but hard to tell origin of oil due to wind moving oil when riding. I was going to see if crank gaskets were faulty but now I am thinking if it could be related to the oil in fuel / diaphragm pump ??
Anybody experienced this ?? Should I be changing the rubber and plastic film in diaphragm pump even though they seem ok ?? What does this pump do ?? All it seems to do is pump petrol from bottom/reserve area of tank to top ?
