Oil in aribox and smokey - actions needed ?

Hi,

Any clues what might happened, i did quick "all in" acceleration today, and after that i noticed that the bike smelled like burning oil, and when you rev'd it from the idle, it puffed oily smoke. I checked the airbox and there was oil inside it.

I restarted the bike, and "feeled" it a bit, everything seemed to work as normal, exept the puff of smoke when revving. After few km of driving the puffing stopped, and everything worked normal.

So, what was it ? The bike starts easyly (cold or warm, you give it 10year old girly kinda kick and it starts, or quick press from the e-starter), its not lacking power and the engine seems to be working overall ok. Tho its driven 350h but the engine was rebuilded at 200h...

Ironicly, earlyer today we were wondering about friends lc4 640 that blocked the whole road on deep oily smoke when he was trying to hold on to us.

Oh, and its -07 fs650

You say rebuild at 200hrs did you carry out any engine work before this time? seems a lot of hours, if not. 8O

Dont know about maintenance record. I bought the bike last year when it was driven 220h, and the previous owner had taken it to to shop for service.

On my time, all the service ive needed to do is change oil every 10th and change filter and adjust valves every second oilchange. Tho, the bikes use has been like 90% calm driving on city roads, 5% fooling around and 5% keeping the wire tight on curly roads.

Make sure the oil level is not over filled. The 650's will give you some blow by with sustained high rpm's, nature of the beast. You may consider doing a breather mod if the problem persists.

Yeap, i think i need to do somesort of breather mod. Friends keep caling me diesel driver :(

I would hate to "waste" the breathed oil, anyone tried to make the breather breath back to the "oilpan" ? Make a small hole to the oilcap and put hose in it ?

Or then i just have to change back to 15-40 gearing, instead 14-42 and drive nicer... :/
