Oil changes and other routine service - what's reusable?

I was going through the service manual again and noticed that is calls for the oil drain seal to be replaced with each oil change - can this be true?

I have ordered spare valve cover gaskets but are there other gaskets/seals/o-rings that need to be replaced as part of the regular servicing and oil changes? - I will need to order these in bulk and in advance... :)

Cheers

RE: Oil changes and other routine service - what

I might replace that copper oil drain plug seal washer every 8 oil changes or so. They're not expensive but replacing it every oil change seems a bit much.

The gaskets around the valve inspection windows flatten out or decay every so often. I've had to replace those a couple of times. Another cheap and easy replacement.

If the service manual says to replace seals every so often I keep an eye on those items but only replace them periodically or as needed. Hopefully not famous last words.

I bought some real niffty reusable valve cover gaskets from Dan over @ motoxotica , he had them made up. Fit real nice and work great!

i just use a smear of silicone sealant and no gasket ...i.ve never had one leak yet

Being a bit of a tight arse I just anneal the copper washer when I think it needs it and it seals like new.
