Odd displacement

I was reading up coming ISDE roster and you would read rider, nationality, class brand of bike and displacement. going through the roster I came up to Björne Carlsson and it
showed 476cc in E3 what kind of combo is that it cant be a 470 since that would be to small for E3 and they have been running that for years the only conclusion that I can
come up with is a stroked 450
as a side note I have read enduro results from sweden and twice have I seen
Husaberg 250cc ?? I don't know if it is typo or prank I am curious

VIKING

Were have you seen the HSB250 ? Maybe I can look into it some more. A bike like that wouldn't go unnoticed.....

Regarding the 476... The guys at R&D are constantly fiddling around with different displacements. For instance Jocke L has a 2005 "FC500" for saleright now. I'm guessing it actually is a 496.

I too saw the 476 listed for Bjorne. I assumed it was actually the 496 that he so often rides, and a mistake was made on the entry form or interpretation of the completed form.
But, I have seen a 475 listed in the past (when Tarkalla was on Hbg), it so I suspect that the 475 / 476 / 477 (the KTM 505 is a 477) may be one in the same and he may be using that.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if Hbg had a 250 running around the woods, the current design (wet sleeve) allows for the motor to be made into most any displacement with ease, so a long rod 250 with a DOHC head is not out of question.

it'll be a 470 but nobody is going to check that it isn't the 476 they claim. it's when an engine is on the upper CC limit they sweat!

regards

Taffy

Bjornne has been running the 476 all season so far. At the WEC in Canada his bike had 475 or something close, on the cylinder in magic marker. I asked about it and they told me they have been playing with various bores (and strokes) all season.

when you experiment with bore and strokes...Who is going to argue with your displacement calculations? As Taffy says ..if it is stretching the upper limit or is beating everyone too easily,; the scrutineers will be having a closer look at the displacement!

That makes perfect sense as they are running the same bikes at the ISDE that they used at the NA rounds of the WEC. The bikes left Canada for Sweden for refurbishing and then were headed straight to Chile according to Roland.
