documentation for my 06 berg 450 says to run 95 octane, but the highest my little one horse town sells is 93... will my bike run like crap on 93? any adjustments i can make to run better on 93? what about octane booster?

BTW... my berg was supposed to be here yesterday, now it's supposed to be here today... we'll see...

enjoying pump 98

same PULP 98. i thought we(in aust) were supposed to have bad fuel quality compared to the rest of the world????!!!!

and my old 01yz426 would only run on regular(91 ron????). if i filled it up with premium it wouldn't even start!!! very strange but apparently common.

I've used 98 and 102 plus octane booster. However, I've found that the fuel seems to go bad quickly with the octane boost fluid so I now just use 98 RON. A road bike motorbike mechanic told me that running low octane fuel in thumpers will damage the surface of the piston so that's why I started to use the octane booster. I haven't really noticed the difference in performance between 98 and adding the octance booster.

Using fuel of a lower grade than recommended will void the warranty on the bike. You need to use the 95 octane as the compression ratio is too high for 93.

It may be alright if you are in a cold climate, but if it is a hot day the engine will suffer. The lower the octane the lower the compression ratio of the engine needs to be, if the octane is too low, the fuel mixture will detonate (pinging) , instead of burning. the massive shock wave caused by this will cause massive damage to the top of the piston all the way down to the big end and main bearings.

If it were me i would use octane booster in the local fuel to be on the safe side

The other thing to throw out there for debate, is that not all octane ratings are the same, there are several different ratings the world around
