Nut on left side cilinder head (connects timing guide)

Hi folks,

On my FE501e (2004) I ran into a little problem. While riding suddenly oil squirted out of the left side of the cilinder head. I turned off the bike right away. Little research learned that the nut/screw on the left side cilininder head came out. I checked the parts manual and found out that the nut connects the plastic Timer chain guide on the inside.

My question: what to do now? And am I in big trouble now? (meaning, is there much change on more damage?)

Bytheway, on this bike this is about the sixt time some nut/screw came out by itself. Do more of you guys run in these type of problems? Are Husaberg put together so badly?

Thans for the reply's!

Squirt a (very) little Chemtool into the theads and on to the small bolt. Then re-install with a dab of Loctite. Don't over tighten! If the bolt will not snug down fully, you can remove the cam chain tensioner and push the chain guide to one side while tightening the small bolt - this will help keep the threaded guide support from spinning.

Also make certain the aluminum (sometimes copper) sealing washer is on the bolt...

Good luck!

Hi Proemer

That little bolt holds the cam chain tensioner in place. It also has (or should have) a nut on the inside.
Do not start your bike. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.
Get the thing apart and get it back together before that little problem turns into an enormously large one.

Hey Coops. The 2004-on bikes no longer have a small nut on the inside. They now have a special tapped support shaft that will not fall into the motor.

Don't freak-out Jeroen! Carry on as instructed...
