I havent posted a ride report upto press because I have not had enough time to get out & ride the 570, that frustratingly has been sat in my garage for 3 weeks.
Anyway got out a couple of days ago and put in that initial hour so I could change the oil.
Firstly my experiance is pretty limited, I have jsut come off a WR250R, which I have been riding for 3 months, prior to that I was a road biker for a few years. Did have an XR400 and a wr426F a few years back though, but never really used them that often, what with a young family/mountain biking/guitar playing/photography, its hard to find time...too many interests & not enough time, I need to retire!!.
Anyway I am 44, 6'5" relatively healthy 15.5 stone.
Bought the Husaberg after feeling a little 'wanting' on the Yam and reading all the reports on the HUS whetted my appetite, was thinking along the lines of KTM before I came across the Husaberg, which really has had unprecedented positive press, not read one bad or even one indifferant report, all glowing.
So I treated myself, I am not great off road, and indeed I need to get some serious miles in to improve, but I enjoy it and dont feel the need to prove anything, to old for that nonsense...so how did someone with my limited experiance find the first ride?
Fantastic!! in a word, had to do 10 or so road miles to get to the off road bit, and the bike is so powerful, riding the torque through the gears, it just goes, smooth too, and changes direction so easily. Funnily enough I found it a lot better on the road than the Yam 250 which is a dual purpose bike, but then again that probably has a lot to do with the huge amount of power, but its also a lot smoother. The gear change is supremely slick too.
Off road, grip was superb on slightly frozen gravel/stone roads. Bike does move about a lot underneath me, but you always seem to feel what its doing, it never feels like its about to let go.
Bike is fast off road, very fast, even using moderate throttle due to run in, you can feel the strength of the engine. The Yam 'bogged down' alot in the lower gears, the Hus just pulls incredibly well from way down, I now understand the 2 stroke comparision, it feels in a totally differant league to any dirtbike Ive had before.
Havent even touched the suspension yet, thought Id get a few miles in & let it settle first, and already its again in a differant league to anything I have experienced before..the back justs grips and the bike just skips over bumps etc,it feels so in control.
Think I will probably change the front sprocket to a 14 as its a bit overgeared for me off road, and to be honest the seat could be softer, but overall I think this is one helluva bike, and its nice to know that relative novices like myself can actually appreciate what a machine it is.. I now feel obliged to put lots of miles in so I can do the bike justice.
Modifications planned are I have got a 2" taller seat coming from Renazco, as with a 36" inseam I feel I want to just eek a bit more legroom on the bike, already got the bar rizers on.
Could to with finding some footpegs that will lower by about an inch, got the KTM adjustable pegs but 6mm of downward adjustment seems a bit pointless, I want a lot more than that...will have to investigate the options, but will see when I get the seat in late January first.
Great forum this, nice to have so many good riders & knowledgable technical people to draw upon, thanks.
Managed to change the oil & filters myself succuesfully, so thats a first for me, so I intend to make efforts to maintain this myself, the valve clearances could be an issue but we shall see
Summary...Husaberg FE570 love it, go buy one no matter what your ability
