nothing but problems with '10 FS570

hello,

i'm seriously considering of selling my FS 570 because i'm having alot of problems with it

i bought the bike new in august '09 and after a few months i've had a starting problem (wich was fixed under guarantee after a lot of BS)

i have 5200km on the bike now, i turned it in at 5000km for maintenance with an official dealer, he did the maintenance and checked my valves.

then 200km later one of my intake valves was broken :? the dealer told me that i was the first with this problem and he couldn't explain why this valve was broken after only 5200km :?

and then he told me that i would have to pay all the expences and parts because my bike was out of guarantee

this isn't right, in europe every bike wich has papers for road-use( and isnt a real competitionmachine like the ktm 450smr) has to have a 2 year guarantee, but husaberg doesn't give it

it pisses me off, because the main reason for me to buy a new bike and not a second hand one was that i wouldn't have all these problems, and so i could call upon my guarantee when something would go wrong, so basicly i'm screwed right now :?

the husaberg dealer (wich is also a ktm-dealer) where i bought my bike told me that it would be good for everydays use, now i wonder why he didn't recomend a KTM 690 SMC, wich is mouch more durable, but also alot cheaper :?

now i heard from another dealer that there were alot of problems with the 570 he even refuses to sell a 570 if someone comes asking for one, he told me that the engine is the same as the 390 and 450 engine, but with another cilinder and more compression, he also told me that he thinks the engine is much to light for such a huge cilinder, and that this engine will never be durable

i dont know alot of husaberg-owners in person, but the ones i know also have their share of mechanical problems with their husabergs, and it's not always easy to get spare parts here in belgium (im waiting for over a month for a litle part of my valve :? )

conclusion : i'll never buy a husaberg again  if there was a decent form of guarantee i would never sell the bike, but now it's just getting to expensive (the cost of all the parts of the broken valve are around 400euros, and now i was lucky that the valve broke in low RPM) since i have bought the bike i've always been defending and praising husaberg, but the harsh reality caught up with me :|

and then people start wondering why 85% of all supermotards (in belgium) are husqvarna's

now i'm going to clean the bike and hopefully i can sell it for a nice price, but i'll probably lose about 2500euros

Wow, sorry to hear about your misfortunes with the bike. What caused the hard-starting? My bike is having trouble starting also. I think it's the fuel filter and/or injector, but I'd like to hear what your problem was.

thats an odd thing to say :? try a 105mm piston on the older engines bottom end with smaller mains.

or any configuration you like it shouldn't cause a broken valve.

200km after the valves were adjusted ...............

FWIW any engine can suffer from a broken valve its not a husaberg curse

Husaberg is not a race bike?? Good for every day use?? Come to the U.S., I think you get a 30 day warranty. 570"s unreliable??

Still, you should not have broken an intake valve.

That sucks!
It sounds like you have a bad dealer not a bad bike.
The valve broke after an adjustment - maybe the mechanic made a mistake?
How do you like the bike other wise?
Hope it works out for you.

And since you mentioned a starting problem that was fixed under warranty could you please tell us what that was? I seem to remember you having a problem but don't remember what the outcome of that was.

Thanks,

DaleEO

It's the law in Belgium, manufacturers have to give 2 year warranty on a new bike, but manufacturers get out of it because it's only under warranty when you leave the engine stock. When bikes come from the factory they are restricted severely to pass emmision tests, when you remove those restrictions (used to be carb setting, now probably something in the EFI) to get full power, you're engine is not stock anymore and you lose the warranty.

Greetings from Belgium

Gene zever verkopen hé. :D

tga nog zo wijd komen

@OHIOPT : there was a problem with the Auto decompression weight So the auto decompression device was not working properly and there was too much compression for the motor to turn over quickly enough to fire.

@ DALEO: it was one of the valve itself, and there was a small scratch in my piston

@ JKL : i've bought the bike with a bad dealer, but for checking the valves i turned it in with one of the best Berg-mechanics in my neighberhood

Sounds hard to break a valve with a rev limiter in the EFI system?

my dealer told me that it's possible that one out of 1000 valves has a default and that i probably have that one messed up valve :?

do any of you think it would be possible to make this engine more durable ?? beacause my heart would bleed if i'd really had to sell the bike (im still in love with her when she works  ) but i cant take the risk of blowing up my engine so easy.. what adjustements should/could be made to improve the durability ??

thanks for the answers

sorry to hear about those problems...

I am really wooried now if i should get one my self :( we have no dealer or service for bergs in Russia and i was going to get one in uk and send it to Russia... if mine would do the same it would be a disaster for me.
sorry for my bad english.

Thanks for the reply, however, what specifically broke on the valve? Did the valve separate from the stem at the point where it attaches to the valve? Did the keeper end of the stem break off?

I remember now about your auto decompressor not working right, if memory serves, the dealer kept saying it was the battery no?

As far as making it more durable? I'm not sure how to answer that question. Unfortunately, you seem to have had some bad luck with your motor. On the flip side there are examples of 500 hours on a motor with nothing more than the replacement of the exhaust valve shims, and regular maintenance.

As far as getting parts goes if you are waiting for this same dealer to get your parts and it takes forever, then order the parts from someone who has them. For a while here in the states we didn't have an importer, so with the help of this site all of us in NA were able to get parts from different countries just as quickly-one week- as we could get them here. I suggest you start looking around for someone who really wants your business, and buy parts from them.

hmm that sucks.. :( :(
I got 12months warranty on my FS570. the FE's get 6months.

that's strange :? here in belgium ktm/husabergs only have a 2month guarantee :?

@ Daleo : the valve was separated from the stem at the point where it attaches to the valve, i'll try to make some pictures of the broken valve when i stop by my dealer.

and my dealer also tells me that there is no husaberg-importer in belgium, so he says he has to order the parts directly from austria :?

i really don't know what to do right now, the dealer told me that it's possible that i could ride for 10000km without any problems, but its also possible that something worse would happen after 1000km :?

if only i could predict the future

im still not sure if i should sell the bike or just put alot of love in in :?:

i just got a call from the dealer where i've bought the bike

they've read about my problems on the internet and they called me to ask if it was my bike
the dealer was very friendly and wants to be sure his clients are happy about their products, he would call ktm about this to arrange something.

he told me that there is a 2 year guarantee (maybe shop-guarantee :?: )

10 minutes later i got a call from the dealer where i've turned the bike in, he had recieved a call from ktm and they told him that they would give it as a guarantee-case :?

but i dont think that he is an official dealer, he isnt in the dealers list on the offical husaberg site, and it takes him a long time to get spare parts :? he is a great husaberg mechanic though, been working on husaberg for over 10 years, but the dealer where ive bought the bike seems more reliable concerning guarantee, so i'll will be taking my bike there for repairs in the future

anyway, this is great news, this means i can keep the bike and have more fun with it without fearing the costs of a blow up

but still i'd hope to evade anymore problems with the bike, so i'll go talk to the dealer wat i could to to make it more reliable

:D :bounce3:

now i've just recieved a call from the belgian ktm-director,

he told me that the mechanic where i've turned the bike in was not an offical husa dealer, and that it would be a definite guarantee-case if i turn the bike in with an official dealer

im very relieved right now, the director was very determined to sort this case out so i'm sure everything will be allright.

i'm only a litle pissed at the "dealer", i think he shouldn't advertise for husa if is he isn't an official dealer :?

but this proves that husaberg is concerned about their products and clients, so this forum is a good way to give some feedback to the distributors
