Notchy Shifting on FE570S

I'm on a 2011 FE 570 S that I've menaged to put 1000 miles on. On one of the very first rides with the bike, I somehow managed to hit a false neutral between 4th and 5th gear. I immediately clicked the lever down, and re-engaged 4th, but the re-engagement came with a sharp bang. Before this, I had not noticed the shifter being at all notchy or noticed any kick back in the shift lever while shifting. Since the event, I occasionally notice a slight kick back in the shift lever when I'm engaging 5th gear. It has never failed to engage 5th and it has never popped out of gear, but there is wierd little slight kick back that I can feel in my toe when I'm selecting between these two gears.

I have changed the oils and filters twice and there has been very minimal metal in the oil and nothing on the magnetic plug or on the screens, so I don't think anything was broken or damaged, but the shifting still feels wierd when it kicks around as you change gears. Does anyone else have this same issue. I guess I shouldn't call it an issue since it has zero effect on the operation of the bike, but i just find it wierd and was curious if anyone else has the same thing with their bike?

My story is not quite the same but might help.

I had a heli-coil fitter to a threaded sump drain plug and when I sollected the bike from the dealer the gear change felt notchy - not smooth at all with a few missed gear changes. Like you I tried to ignor it and put it down to the gear lever being adjusted perhaps by the dealer. Anyway, I started to get bits of metal in teh oil so in teh end took it in for a strip-down in case the big end bearing was wearing. Turned out to be a bit of swarf in the engine from the work previously done. Must have affected the gears, because now the gear change is silky smooth again! Perhaps you have a small piece of damaged tooth metal causing problems? Just a thought.
