Don't really know if this is correct forum..
My -99 501 ran fine. Finally got around swapping Dellorto for Keihin FCR 41.
Bike now won't start. Keeps fludding the plug. Spark seems good. I tested SEM and got
2.90 Red/Black
16 Green/Black
Checked valve clearances 3 times. All good.
Really stumped! Any ideas?
Thanks

What's the FCR off of? Check the choke isn't stuck on, go through the jet sizes compared to stock Berg/info in the Docs and make sure your in the ballpark.

Just remembered, float valve height needs to be spot on too.

Good luck, it will be worth the hassle.

Carl.

Remember, the FCR is a proper pumper carb. Any time you twist the throttle, you are actuating the accelerator pump, which shoots a jet of raw fuel into the motor. Are you twisting the throttle when you are trying to start it? It's easy to be bumping the throttle slightly open as you kick your bike, and it will flood the motor.
Get everything dried out, turn the fuel on,choke, snap the throttle open twice (the accelerator pump will act as a primer) and a nice tdc kick. No throttle. Provided the carb settings are close,Should fire up.
Just my opinion.

get another plug. as long as it is bone dry...that is good. an old plug is ideal.

check the idle height is set for a highish idle. sometimes they won't start because the idle height is all wrong and too low.

All sorted! Flits needed resetting! First kick, boom.
Now put back together and test!
