No sparkplug caps available from KTM dealers?

nowhere near here
I've got an 09 FE450 that needs a new spark plug cap. The current cap shows infinite resistance. I was hoping to ride this weekend.

So I go down to the local KTM/Husaberg dealer,

Carter Powersports in Las Vegas.

They do not have any caps. They do not stock the caps. There are no alternatives to this cap and spark plug combination, according to them.

And. They can't order one, as these are no longer in production. What am I to do with my 4 year old bike?

The Parts counterjock's recommendation?

Try a lawn mower store! Maybe they'll have something that will work!

part number is 78039090000. shows to fit 08-12 KTM 450/530/500 as well, but your dealer is right its not available. 77139090000 is for a newer model, I bet it would work and your dealer probly has one.

dealer dissss

Can't expect the dealer to have everything in stock all the time... Ktm is not Advanced Auto.... In europe u have to wait weeks for certain parts and the distance from ktm's main manufacturing is just a few hours away....just the way the ball bounces....
the key is to have backups..... radiators, shift and brake levers, pads, rotors,bolts, master links, tubes,tires..... etc...then you don't need to blame others for lack of foresight.... you'll rarely miss a weekend... do some more research on cross referencing parts as you can buy a ton of used ktm parts on ebay that are compatible(same) with berg parts for a fraction of the price.... 525 6 days has lots of similarities for example... parts no's not always the same but part is the same....

this **** is not cheap... but fun as f&%k

Hey guys, I'm not at home at the minute but I just went through this. I think you'll find that its a NGK YB05E. My memory is sketchy. The best bet is to check the part number engraved into the side of the body.

Code breakdown from the NGK site.

Y = 120 degree short elbow
B = thread type
05 = 5k ohm resistance
E = terminal type ( intergrated )

Keep the old sealing rubbers.

Spark plug LKAR8 AI, F%$^&*G not cheap.

Yup, KTM doesn't make the caps. Just need the right cap and they are available all over as I have gotten one from Advance Auto before.

Purchased The NGK VBO5E stock no 8408 it is the same shape depth and clip type the boot that goes into the motor on the oem unit is different . Pull that boot off and re use it .The 5 in the nomenclature stands for 5K ohms same resistance as the oem did not try it but no reason why it should not work. I did push it into position and it snapped on in the exact spot.
