No Spark

Where ever we park the motorhome, USA
Well, it finally happened. In the middle of our Thanksgiving Day ride, with aproximately 20 other riders, my engine just stopped. I was accelerating down this trail in third and about to shift and the engine just quit. So after checking the fuel, and other obvious things on the trail, I have to be towed back to our trailer.

Checked the stator, the ohms are right by the book. Crank the engine and I get more than 5 volts a/c measuring green to black. The black wire from the stator does read 0 ohms to ground, is that correct?

The black wire from the coil also measures 0 ohms to ground. Is that correct?

I disconnected the kill switch, and the hi-low selector switch, still no spark.

I presume that means the coil is bad. Does this sound correct?

I appreciate all your feedback on this.

I had three more rides planned for the next three days

Hi Splat,Since anything before 04 is a sem ign stator/flywheel setup you know the history these units have had.Check out the posts concerning this problem, there is the option to upgrade to a kokusan.I hope I am wrong....nsman

No Spark!

Splat,

It sounds like your Coil. Make sure you Check your Primary Ignition resistance between the red and black wires on the stator it should measure 3K Ohm +- 10%.Also Check the resistance on the ignition trigger Green and black wires. It should read around 168 Ohm +- 10%. Both black wires are ground in the circuit so thats OK If your coil is bad or have any questions give me a call. I have two good stators and Ignition coils for a Fe 650 we could use for testing.
