hello i am new to the forum
i just bought a 99 fc501 never seen it run but it was complete and a good price
the previous owner said he never was able to get it to run right
the first problem no spark
i was reading on another post about checking the stator green to black 168 oms (check)
red to black 2850 oms i guess usually the one to go (no good on my bike) ol
about the stator 3-leads green black red. markings -amal sem sweden t5
the bike has no battery, lights, or blinkers.
i am kinda a fan of keeping things the way they were oem, if that is not possible i am open to anything that will get this thing going. as soon as it runs i am going to beat the breaks of her.

problem 2
i live in the usa 2+ hours away from a husaberg dealer and 6min from a ktm shop
a couple parts i could use
the intake boot from the carb phm40 to the cyl has seen better days and needs to be replaced, if there is a ktm pt# any one knows about of where i could go to get one shipped to me thanks. aft of the cyl in front of the carb there is a hose connection that goes to nothing??? left side

the kick starter is cracked
the radiator holds water but is smashed up
replacement grip seat cover

if that's the case, you're closer than 90% of us. why not give a call to BOSS in portland. i believe he has been known to sell a few of those parts and will actually MAIL them to your door. (what a concept)

even though the stator shows 2850 it could and probably has 'had it'. they can give spurious readings and yet still be rubbish. get someone else in the workshop with you and whatever you do use a brand new plug that has never ever been in the bike.

i don't want to hear about "only 5 minutes" or none of that: A NEW PLUG, unused, from the box. OR TAKE THE CAP OFF AND USING THE HELP OF SOMEONE THAT YOU KICK IT AND THEY CHECK FOR THE SPARK.

a lot of it is technique as well. My mechanic is now off for 6 weeks after trying for shifts of 1-hour, 30-mins and 15-mins before breaking his foot. I kick started it 3rd kick. :D :D :D

getting the technique can't really be self taught because in the meantime the plugs get fouled and bore gets washed etc.

I can get most of these spares for you BTW.

regards

Taffy
