No Spark - 2012 FE390

Hi,

In need of help, my berg has no spark! :(

It had been running ok for the last few months but every now and again the motor would just die whether I be riding WOT or just cruising along.

Now I have no spark at all.

Heres what I've done so far:

New plug
New HV Lead
- Checked Coil - Tested seems ok has continuity
- Checked wire that runs to coil from timing charger - Tested seems ok has continuity.
- Checked Timing Charger (ontop of battery) (Plugged it into another bike)
- Checked fuses

There just seems to be no power going to the coil?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Is the coil getting power? I would replace the plug wire or at least unscrew and check each end. I have had to clip(shorten) mine a couple of times in the last few years due to corrosion where the plugcap screws into the wire. Haven't heard of a bad coil yet...if that doesn't work, there's a thread about jumping the diagnostic connector to see if the FI is messing up.

There is no power going to the coil. I have replaced the spark plug lead. Checked the plug cap. Checked all battery leads and terminals all fuses checked.

The bike is turning over fine just no power going to the coil?

Do you have a link to that diagnostic plug thread?

Thanks

Hi Thurston,

I seem to be having the same problem with my 2010 390 have spoken to plenty of people who say that relays can corrode and telling me I have to pull all of the wiring loom apart and resoulder al the joins just wondering if you ended up fixing your problem?

Cheers

no spark!!

please check all the wires behind the headlight. I have experienced weird symptoms because of a partially cut wire coming from the kill switch... Mine was yellow w/ black stripe.... similar symptoms...
