No more FS?

doesn't surprise me. didn't sell too well and not a race bike. KTM don't even bring the smr450 into Australia any more. would be good if berg took it to the others in making a competitive 450 race SM.

the old FS650 was a BIG seller here in the UK, but the new one just hasn't had their backing. trouble is, your not selling it to dirt bike riders so you need a whole new bunch of advertising and the rates for road bikes compared to dirt will be extortionate.

It's very much a european thing as well and the big hitters and there are about 10 languages here and all have a different magazine etc.

a real shame.

no dealers in the UK what-so-ever ran these or pushed them.

bummer that they're not making them after this year. i just negotiated for my 2011 fs570 yesterday. it's being prepped for thursday pickup. it should make for better commuting than my truck. :D

yeah ok.. :)
Its not perfect but you get the idea

As a new owner of an FS, I am solidly behind dropping them in favor of offering just the FE. For me, the FE would have been a more solid starting point to building a conversion bike with two sets of suspension. Good, used SUMO suspension and brakes are so plentiful that it would have been way cheaper to go that direction. That's just me though...

that may be the case for you srosa, but the FS sells for the same price as the FE here now (was dearer originally) and there really isnt an abundance of parts, especially sumo suspension readily available. Parts are expensive unless bought from the states, but as Ive recently had to learn the hard way, buying from the US isnt always a great thing when it comes to warranties, faulty products and wrong orders, as I now have to try and palm off parts that a US supplier wont accept for a refund..
For me, the FS was a much much much much MUCH cheaper option for a husaberg supermoto. Originally I was going to buy a 2010 ktm 530 exc and set it up, I reckon I've saved thousands by getting the FS, plus I get FI and a sweeet handling bike :)

Sorry to hear about your parts situation. There are many reliable parts suppliers here in the US but I've also encountered more than a few that don't back their products or cannot be trusted for other reasons. Usually you get what you pay for in that regard. I depend a lot on references when shopping abroad.

The FE and FS have the same price here too. Your observation about SUMO parts availability being regional is interesting. Is there an abundance of used offroad suspension instead?

Edit: I agree that the FS is one sweet handler and the FI performs flawlessly for me. I had mine on the track for the first time last weekend and loved it. The setup still needs work but that was expected. It was fun to feel the bike break in with smoother shifting and more power with each session.

I thought that too but getting a 2nd hand shock for these bikes is a fricken nightmare!

This is my 450 FX conversion so far...
