Nightmare, literally!

Woke up around 3:30 last night with actual tears in my eyes. I dreamt that I was at my parents house. For some reason I left my bike outside on my stand overnight. I came out in the morning, and the whole thing was stripped. I mean everything except the cylinder, cases, head (no cam), and swingarm was gone. Somehow, to hold the swingarm in position, someone had replaced the shock with a huge white rubberband. The head/cylinder was full of sand. I flipped out when I saw it. Tossed what remained in the trunk of my car, and took off. As I was driving away, I was trying to figure out what I was going to do about it. Then I woke up. What a relief, I thought. I checked it out this morning to make sure it was okay. It was. It's weird, I have been having a lot of bizarre dreams lately where I something really bad had happened, only to wake up and things were fine. What would cause this?? Why does my 'Berg have to be in them?

Hi Parkso:

It seems like the amount of "damage" inflicted upon your Berg would render it a total loss and perhaps the death of your Berg. But death brings renewal and and a new beginning. Have you been thinking about a new Berg lately or a major new beginning for yourself?

HI Parkso,If you were a canadian ,the answer would be simple, you are suffering from hockey withdrawl. :D In you're case I have no idea what would cause your "nightmares"it is way outside any expertise that i may have. ...nsman...certainly keeps this site interesting though!!!!

Is there a divorce possible in your future??

When guys get divorced they usually get the shaft.

Just a thought.

re: boogieman

two things I've found to cause bad dreams are medications and nicotine patches.

The worst nightmares I've ever had were due to nicotine patches. Incredibly greusome things involving my family where I would wake up screaming.

Every time I change my medications, the bad dreams start up again as well. I've come to accept it and I just sleep less.

thanks,
json

ARE THER STILL HOCKEY TEAMS IN CANADA! :teeth: Sorry I couldn't resist that one.

GO SHARKS!!!!! when ever you over paid players & owners with to much money decide to settle this. The ones who loose the most are the concessioneers, parking people and arena workers!!

I have had a similar nightmare.

Mine is : "The bikes are on our 3 rail trailer and we stop somewhere to eat. While eating, I remember the bikes aren't locked, but by the time I get outside, they are already gone." I had that dream 4 times. Each time I woke up half running out of bed. Then I realized it was a dream.

I know what caused it. A guy that worked at a Honda dealer told me about a customer that bought a new quad. The customer stopped on his way home at a mall. When he returned to his truck, of course the new quad was gone.

The sales guy tells me that story and few more the day after someone stole our dirtbikes (a couple years ago). I chewed him out and his sales manager because they never said anything about the high theft rate when we bought our bikes. They never recommended theft insurance, or even suggested the possibility of me becoming a target; until after our bikes are stolen. Their reply is," Oh yeah, that happens all the time."
They could have mentioned it as we are loading the bikes after the sale is done. A simple warning would have said me about $9000.

Hi There UncleMoose....The concept of no NHL hockey in Canada is very difficult for most Canadians to except,it has been part of our lives forever.Think how bizarre it would be if george bush jumped on a plane and went down to cuba to tell fidel castro he was sorry.Thats about how unthinkable no NHL hockey seems. There is still lots of hockey, college, jnr"A" etc,and they are getting lots of attention.Maybe some of the arenas will promote some indoor ice racing.Every cloud has a silver lining....nsman...keep your stick on the ice!!!

nightmares!

my nightmare is that i'm driving along and everyone coming the other way is flashing me with their headlights. i look in my side mirror and there is my bike, on it's side, being dragged along the road by the outer tie-down just outside and behind the trailer.

this happened three times in the eighties.

oh!  that wasn't a nightmare, it was ........ 8O 8O 8O

Taffy

PS tie-downs loose their grip in the claw-teeth after a while. don't use them.

I have found that dreams are exacerbated a bit by eating before going to sleep.

I have also found that if you eat quantities of cheese (pizza?) before going to sleep crazy wild dreams are the result.

Something about cheese..........

No, there wasn't anything in particular that would have triggered this nightmare. BUT, I have been having similar nightmares about a different subject I won't mention. All have been lifelike, with me waking up thanking to the Man above that it wasn't real.

Taffy, earlier this year I my bike fell off the trailer (I was with my BOSS none-the-less!!!!). Bent my shiter and worsened the bend in my handlebars. Also got a bit of road rash on the exhaust, as that was the first thing to hit the ground and drag. That whole day of riding was the most difficult I have ever ridden, and I wasn't able to shift out of 3rd (the hills were STEEP!) I always use the ratchet tie-downs, much safer.

what is hockey ?

It was the last pure sport, uninfected by greed and materialism. A true test of endurance and pain tolerance; played by real men. Now, it too has been polluted by big business and corporate greed.

where is canada ?

It's a suburb of North Dakota.

I just found out that RUSH , NORTHERN EXPOSURE , MOOSES and drug loving BEN JOHNSON, CELINE DION are Canadian ! Bummer ! and we in England make fun of the Welsh people ...!....NO MORE we won't !!

Even that non Funny JiM CARREY was once a mooose.

Parsko,

This might be common knowledge but I learned a little trick that keeps bikes on trailers. Once you get it all tied down run a couple bungee cords between the tie-down straps.

What happens is that when you go around a left hand turn the bike leans right causing the tie-downs on the right side to go slack and the hooks can slip out. (or vice versa) Once the bike is upright again there is nothing holding the bike down on one side and it is only a matter of moments before it topples off the trailer/truck.

Running the bungee cords between the tie down straps constantly keeps tension on them even when the bike leaning would normally cause them to go slack.

Also I believe that dreams are just unfilled brain figments from the day that the brain tries to file away while unconscious and don't mean anything per say from their content. Things like if you happen to see something on tv when you are only half paying attention and don't properly 'digest' the information. Your brain isn't quite sure where to put this info so it puts it into a holding file and deals with it later during 'down-time' (sleep).

However it is the emotional state of the person during that time period that causes these brain figments to play out in the manner in which they do. If you have been emotionally agonizing about a situation for a long time then you are going to have two things going on. One you are going to have a distressed emotional state causing your unfiled brain figments to be arranged in a distressing and vivid manner and Two you will probably have a lot of brain figments pertaining to the thing you are agonizing about causing your dreams to center on this. In other words if the love of your life left you and you are in the dumps about it for a long time you will probably have dreams about it. The dreams themselves won't mean anything but the fact that you are having the dreams about it suggest that you need to pick yourself up emotionally and move on or resolve the conflict.

That and stop eating Cheese.

The above is just my personal theory. Take no heed.

Oh, and get a new set of handlebars.

:banghead:

It should be obvious to everyone that you are doomed if you happen to be a welsh born canadian who likes to eat cheese pizzas while waiting for hockey nite in canada to come on.Also if you can't sing or have a sense of humor and have poor judgement choosing tie downs, you can forget about ever getting a decent nights sleep....nsman,,somehow I like that canada in north dakota idea...
