Welcome. I am new as well with an '07 FE550. Took it out this past weekend with a buddy who is a veteran biker and has a CRF250 for trails and a few other toys. We traded bikes for a few trails and he is now hooked and searching for a 570, 650 or maybe the new Husky 701. I don't think you'll regret your purchase.

The 650 is quite different. More brutal and pared down and aggressive. More stable steering and handles rather differently. A looooot of fun. Unforgettable in a completely different way than the 70-degrees.
