hi i am new to this forum. i ve been riding for about 3 years. i had a drz 400 and a wr450
I am looking at a late 2003 plate fe 450. is there anything that i need to check apart from the useualls? what are they like compared to a wr450,

lighter than a wr, but doesn't feel it. slower steering. power more forgiving in midrange, but very short stroke needs to be revved to make power. first year 450 had a dodgy torque limiter which would slip when starting cold. some stator wires had a cold solder joint which needed redone. this is all about a 450, which began with model year 2004. if its 2003 400 instead, a whole different ballgame.

the bike advertised as a 2003 fe 450. will check the frame plate to see what it is stamped up as. travelling 200 miles to look at it 2moz so just hope its a good one.

Have got the bike, its a 2004 fe 450, its got 110hrs needs a few little bits doing, power seems to b alot more potent than the wr, when are these things due piston rings etc, any mods worth doing?

Also who are the best place for parts un the uk? Is the drive chain guide the same as a ktm
