I have a 1998 FC400, That is the model year that is stamped on the steering head. My stator is attached to the right side cover and comes off attached to the cover when removing the three cover bolts. It has a three wire connector that runs to the CDI/coil. So what do I have a 98 or 99 set-up for the stator? Also need one need some leads if possible. When looking at a pice of a KTM LC4 stator it looks the same. Thanks for your help guys!!

More info... told by the previous owner that it needs a stator only have 3 wires from the stator of this bike with a date of 1998 stamped on steering head. Again FC400.Here are my ohm readings, red to black 1750 ohms and green to red 165 ohms. First is the stator good for a FC400. If not please steer me to the right spot for replacement and/or upgrade with lighting.

Hi Rich,

Looks like some body has put a 99 motor in a 98 frame, you defiantly have the later type stator.
Should read;
Black to Red 3000
Black to Green 165 Ohms.

The LC4 is no good, fits the same way but the resistance spec is different.

Regards

Sparks.
