Went for a quick new years eve spin up to about 1200 ft which gave me a nice coverage of snow.
Been a while since I ridden deep snow, well in fact snow of any type, and the first two minutes was interesting as I fished tailed along some tractor ruts before dropping into a little stream that had cleared the snow away .
Then I got back into it and it was off to go, ignoring the ruts and powering through the fresh snow making it a lot easier. Almost like rising sand.
didn’t go too far off the beaten track as I was solo so the total trip was only about 20 miles but in that time I got stuck twice and nearly went over the bars hitting a hollow that had filled in.
Look no stand!
In the end my route was cut short when the gates I needed to open were just covered by too much snow to open without doing a lot of digging .
Tried a bit of artiness - is that a word?- with the camera.
Shame the icicles weren’t really long.
After which it was off home to wash the bike like a loon and hope that next time I go in the shed its not just a pile of rust because of the road salt.
