She does look a little better in the picture, than close up.
Kick start feals ok it's got compression, it's got a spark. Carb was choked right up so I cleaned that. Electric starts worse than useless, but I guess that's nothing unusual

I'm new to this forum as well, and have already bothered the folks in here with "stupid" questions. This forum is a goldmine!
I also bought an old Husaberg FC550 '01, what wouldn't start. The bike was fine. Not driven to a wreck and not skrewed to a wreck either, so I took the chance. I had it to the local Husaberg dealer (earlier he was the importer to Norway on these bikes.), and he checked it up for me. He used a couple of hours on my bike, adjusting the valves, the decomp, ignition, changed oil+filter, but most of all; took the carbourator off and totally cleaned and adjusted it. It was full off green dirt, and some parts inside was stuck in old dirt. When he put it back on, clean and adjusted right, the bike always starts on the second kick!
So now, I'm cuddeling with the bike in my hobby-room, waiting for the spring to come. I hope you'll find the problem with your bike, and that you'll be as happy as me!

Been looking at this forum for a while, it is an absolute goldmine like you say Highflyer.
Sounds like the state my carb was in, the previous owner had left it sitting with the fuel taps on for 18 months. Some of the jets may need changing in mine.
