I recently bought a Husaberg 650 after falling in love with it on first sight, didnt ask anything just bought it and off i went, im in the UK and its on a 2005 registration and has
Radial mount front 4 pot Beringer caliper
Gold hubs with black excel rims and loads of other blingy bits
Chassis number of my bike is VBKHUA4055M784892

What i want to know is how to identify what it is and anything i should know about it, i plan on changing the bodywork to carbon and clutch/brake cylinders to Beringer or another and if theres other bolt on type mods i can do while my 2 children are in bed id be interested to know about as im finding it a little difficult to get sense out of anyone so far.

All info gratefully received

welcome to UHE mate - what's your name ? (LOL!!!)

check the owner's doc to the left of screen.

chapter one ios year recognition and it will tell you that the 10th suffix is the year of manufactur and in your case it's a '5'. so you were right it is an '05. i'm not sure you can gather anything else from thae chassis number though....

send simon a PM he is into SM.

and please put your location and model in your signature. pppplllleeeeeaaaasssseeeee!

Welcome Damien.

Heaps of valuable info and friendly advice here!

You mentioned planning on changing some bodywork to carbon.
I came across this carbon parts site a while back - pro-carbon.com
I haven't purchased anything off pro-carbon, but may do one day.

as taffy said the 10th digit relates to the year but there is also a digit that relates to the engine size. i think its the first number ie 4 = 450, 5 =550, 6 =650,
i know this as when i bought my '03 400 i thought it was a 501 until i gave the chassis number when ordering parts and was told, nope thats a 400.
this works out on my current '06 450,
someone just check out their frame number to test it.
only reason i raise this is i dont see any 6 in damiens chassis number.

Well Damian,

Assuming it is the 650  as it is an 05 it will actually be the first year of the smaller capacity of 628cc rather than earlier 644cc.

As for your brakes. If you have the 4-pot radial caliper and master cylinder OEM front brake keep them as they are great. You'll be hard pressed to find anything better - just find the best pads to suit you. If it is the 6-pot change it to the 4 pot for less wooden and better feel. As for the clutch, it is Magura and again is as good as you're going to get.

If you want bling then get yourself an aftermarket exhaust system and unless already fitted a 5" rear rim laced to your existing hub. Then just adjust to sussies to you and you're ready to roll.

All the best,
Simon
