Like the title says, I'm new to dirt bikes and motorcycles in general, so I have a ton of stuff to learn :D

This seems like a great forum with some excellent folks, so thanks for having me!

And, yes, I'm currently bike-less (learning on a Yamaha 225 dualsport), but if I have my way I'll be on a Berg soon...hopefully a 570

Cheers,

-Michael

Brought my first berg last year a te300 2 smoka absolutely love the thing! Gonna be a big step from your yammie to a 570! They are an absolute weapon! Better get used to acceleration wheel stands pretty quick!

I figured as much  I'm hoping I can find someone willing to let me try their 450 before I make the jump (literally and figuratively...) to the big boys :D

The yammie's fun, but I'm a torque nut, so I'm already wishing for more bottom end to play with :p

The 570 is such a well thought out and well designed bike that it can indeed be a first bike, with some care and forethought. You will have a few scare wheelies! But that's ... ok! :)

Don't be a hero go slow riding in the dirt at first its a hole different beast. Me and friend found out all his street riding experience wasn't a lot of help in the dirt. He broke his foot in less then a kilometer of riding. Go with someone who isn't an A hole who can teach you the basics. You'll get hooked.

Really looking forward to it! Now I just have to find one in my area :(

I appreciate the insight. Luckily the guys I'll be riding with are pretty mellow and have plenty of experience. And then there's the fact I'll be terrified of putting scratches and dents on my new baby...

Also couldn't help noticing the 570's in your signature--I'm so envious :furious:

can't help but see the irony in the fact that Northwood is the name of the psychiatric facility in my home town. (you must be crazy!)
just kidding. there has been an xt225 in my garage for several years and i find it is a fun bike to periodically take out and flog because it won't bite you if you abuse the throttle.
biggest difference with the berg (or any raceworthy dirt bike) is the throttle response. also, the seat height some find intimidating, but i tell people that's why there's a crack in your butt, so at least one leg can touch the ground. both problems go away with experience. have fun.

I can't say I'm not crazy... :spin:

Thanks for the welcome :) I have a million questions, but will endeavor to read and post appropriately. Seems like folks have only good things to say about Berg!
