Hi all,
I'm from Australia and just bought my First Husaberg a 1999 600FE. Bit rough around the edges but after 2 days in the shed its up and running again-first time in 2 years and seem to be a nice bike ridding it around my paddock. Noticed its hard to start (previous owner also complained of this) and so far i haven't managed to kick start it  but does seem to fire up with the electric leg after a bit? New battery will hopefully make this process a lot easier. I've already given the carby a good clean-but think it could do with some fresh fuel and a new spark plug. Will try these later on this week. Any other ideas to make it start easier would be much appreciated. And does anyone know if you can still get new/repo plastics and sticker kits for the older Bergs? Hope to meet a few guys on here. Cheers

Have a look here:

If it starts on the button, it should be easier with the foot, so I'd suggest its largely technique.

With a Sparks stator and FCR carb my 98 501 will start by hand cranking the kick start when hot.

Fresh fuel will always help starting, especially cold starting. The high volatility fractions of fuel are the bits that make starting easier, but are the first to evaporate off when sitting in a vented container like a carb float bowel. Its the reason why injected engines will start after long periods, because the fuel in the delivery system is sealed from the atmosphere.

Thanks for the reply after reading the owners manual and realizing how tight the tappet clearance is i will be checking that out to when i put the new plug in to. The previous owner only fixed something on it when it stopped the bike, if it was still going it was fine. LOL. Thanks for the link-it can be a bit tricky finding info when there's so much of it will have a read. Cheers
