Hello, just joined the club with a `10 FE390, 160 hours. I'll have the bike next week, coming off a tricked out XR400 I can't wait what it be like on the trails! I'm in Hungary, the bike is from Italy.

I have a few questions now (I will have many more in the coming weeks), please help me on these.

1. This is the EU version, that means it already has the "competition" map loaded? How can you verify?

2. The 2 way connector for the ignition selection switch, is it in the headlight area? If I understand it right, with nothing connected there, it is the "stock" map, and if I install a 6.8K resistor there it will use the "aggressive" map? I don't want a map selector switch.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Yes standard it is is flat mode, agressive mode needs to be switched.

I drove mine for a testride at the dealer and was not impressed at all!

Then I remembered about the switch and asked the owner to go back into his parts shop and get me the switch which he did.

Bike was sold immediately, I was sold too! What a difference.

Yes, the connections are behind the light mask, but be aware, there are many many there!

I never loaded the competition mapping, as I still have the standard pipe, but yet with a different baffle at the end. Better sound, a little bit snappier and the heat could escape better.

I don't think you can check for a competition map, but you could apply that map when there is an Akra pipe mounted. You may assume that map is there, if the pipe is there. Normally it doesnt make sense to upload that mapping software if there is no modification on the bike.

Thanks for the reply, Noppy.

I will look for the connector, I've already bought the mating end where I'll mount the 6.8K resistor.

My bike has the restrictive type stock can (812.05.081.000), but it wasn't quiet when I tried it, so I guess the PO did some mods to it. Anyway I will be looking inside it, I know how much a free flowing can means.

Does anyone please know, what year and model KTM cans can be fitted without any mods (aka bolt-on)?
