Hi all after a break from riding I have just bought a 2012 te300 coming from gasgas's thought I would give them a shot! would like to road reg the bike as like to greenlane trouble is it was purchased in Europe by previous owner and then came into uk when he moved back here, got the service book stating numbers and original delivery note is it a real pain in the *** to get it registered have all the road legal bits to put on but worried about having to pay duty or a iva test?? Any help would be helpful many thanks jon

Nova

To get the bike registered is fairly straight forward however there is one stumbling block for either new or recently manufactured bikes and that is that they will need to appear on the HMRC NOVA (Notice of Vehicle Arrivals) database before DVLA will complete the registration process.

Getting a recently manufactured bike (as your is) on the NOVA database requires proof that import duties have been paid. This proof can normally be provided by the dealer and / or importer. This could be an issue if the import duties weren't paid by the previous owner when they brought the bike into the UK.

What's sickening is that the NOVA scheme only came in within the last few years, but, DVLA are applying the same "NOVA check" rule to machines that were imported prior to the NOVA database coming into existence. I know this from bitter experience in a recent attempt to get an officially imported 2012 KTM EXC registered. It was a pain in the neck.

For new bikes the NOVA process is completed by the dealer prior to the bikes being registered.

I don't think IVA is relevant as homologation isn't applied to competition machines in the UK.

Cheers for that guys problem is haven't got proof vat was payed and has been in uk for 2months now also is there someone I can call regarding a certificate of conformity did look for husaberg uk number but no joy can a dealer do this??

what you have to do is write the value down as low as you can and then pay the VAT. if you say it is worth £1,000 and get a dodgy invoice for it to show,..... then you hand over £200.

you can pay £200 on its CURRENT VALUE. you don't have to pay it on its retail value when new.

Kind if stuck at the moment tried to do nova but has to be person who brought the bike into the uk do got hold of them they don't want to do it as they will get a fine for not registering it so don't know what to do!!!

sorted the nova just need dating cert, think as an enduro bike I don't need a certificate of comformity?
